Dear UHD Community,
I know many of you are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey while others are preparing to return to campus on Sept. 5. Many of you may still have questions regarding employee and student-related topics. Please know that our team has been working hard to provide resources addressing these queries.
Faculty and staff can access UHD’s Employees Resources page with information on payroll, employee assistance and other topics. Students with questions on financial aid, off-campus classes, applying for the Gator Relief Fund, and other matters, can visit the brand new Student Resources and FAQ page.
Just as our facilities team has worked tirelessly to prepare campus for its Sept. 5 reopening, our Employee Services and Operations and Student Affairs staff members have been coordinating this information with your needs in mind. I thank them for their efforts in keeping faculty, staff and students informed.
Crews are still on campus today and will be working to ensure the University is prepared to return to its educational mission. I’ve observed their progress over the past week, and what they’ve accomplished in a short period of time is nothing short of remarkable.
As mentioned in previous communications, I know that not everyone will be prepared for a Sept. 5 return. Many of you are experiencing losses from Harvey, and it’s important that you focus on your families and well-being at this time. It’s also imperative that our University community stands together during this time of recovery. Support your fellow Gators as best you can, either on campus or in the community. Or, pledge support through the new Gator Relief Fund.
I am impressed by the strength of our University family and its dedication to this institution. All of you are indeed UHD Strong. Let’s work to put Harvey behind us and move forward to serve our great city.
