Dear UHD Students, Faculty and Staff,
I’m pleased to welcome so many of you back to the UHD campus today. While we’ve been gone for only a week, it’s been a very long week indeed.
For those of you who experienced losses during Harvey, please know that we are prepared to work with you to ensure a successful semester. We pledge to encourage you, to support you and to work together with kindness and generosity toward our top goal – student success.
Students, I encourage you to take advantage of the resources we offer to support your academic success. And to all of the UHD community, don’t neglect your personal well-being during the days ahead. Hurricane Harvey was a devastating storm, but Houston is a strong, entrepreneurial city with a can-do spirit and UHD is a reflection of Houston.
As Nelson Mandela said “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” In the coming days, months and years, we’ll work together and when we’re done putting our city, our homes and our lives back together, it will be done.
My sincere best wishes to each of you for an outstanding academic semester.
Dr. Juan Sánchez Muñoz, UHD President
