Happy Holidays!

Dear UHD Community,

2017 is coming to a close, and it’s been a tremendous year for our institution.

This year, UHD received a historic naming gift; received accolades from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board; hosted the UH System Board of Regents; presented public forums on topics affecting our community; and celebrated our institution during “Invest In Blue.” UHD wrapped up the year in grand fashion during Commencement Weekend, and I could not think of a better way to conclude 2017 than by congratulating our graduates.

Of course, the University faced a few challenges, but even one of the worst storms in Houston’s history could not impede the University’s progress.

All of our accomplishments this year were made possible by you, the UHD community.  No matter your role here at UHD, your contributions factored into the University’s achievements in 2017. Your commitment to our institution’s growth is commendable, and I am proud to serve as this University’s president.

Although the bar has been raised, I know UHD’s momentum will lead to even greater success in 2018.

The University will close at the end of the week for the Winter Break. I hope everyone has a restful and happy holiday season.

Thank you for all that you do to make our University great. I look forward to seeing all of you in the New Year.

Sincerely,

Dr. Juan Sánchez Muñoz, UHD President
