Dec. 5, Official Day of Mourning

Dear UHD Community,

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has issued an executive order designating Wednesday, Dec. 5, as an official Day of Mourning for President George H.W. Bush.

Final exams will be conducted on this day as scheduled. Essential personnel as designated by division vice presidents are required to report to campus.

UHD Employment Services & Operations will provide further details on essential personnel and time reporting later today.

Our nation and our city lost a true statesman in President Bush. He was a dedicated Houstonian, who was unwavering in his passion for our city. Likewise, he continued to serve others through his foundation long after exiting public office. As a veteran, I hold a deep appreciation for his service to our country during World War II and his commitment to members of our armed forces.

Those who will be on campus tomorrow, please take a moment to observe a moment of silence at 9 a.m. to honor the memory of President Bush.

Dr. Juan Sánchez Muñoz, UHD President
