The University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) is a comprehensive four-year university offering bachelor’s and master’s degree programs aimed at career preparation.
On Feb. 23, 2017, the University of Houston System Board of Regents appointed Dr. Juan Sánchez Muñoz to the role of UHD President.
Dr. Muñoz arrived at UHD from Texas Tech University (TTU) where he served as the Senior Vice President for Institutional Diversity Equity, and Community Engagement and Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs. At TTU, Muñoz supervised more than 40 units and departments, including the TTU Ethics Center and the Teaching, Learning and Professional Development Center, and the Office of Academic Engagement. He served on the President’s Administrative Council, President’s Executive Cabinet, Provost’s Staff, Provost Council, Dean’s Council, Academic Council, and the TTU Strategic Planning Committee.
